Section C
Directions: In this section you will hear a recorded short passage. The passage is printed on the test paper, but with some words or parses missing. The passage will be read three times. The first reading is for you to get the general idea. During the second reading you are required to write down the missing words or phrases according to what you hear in order of numbered blanks. The third reading is for you to check your answer. Now the passage will begin.
Children often created their own games. One   1    outdoor game was rolling the hoop (孩子玩的铁环、木环) .Taking a big wooden hoop, the children would    2   each other from one point to another on the lawn. The object of the game was to see who could get to the finishing point     3   . It sounds like an easy game, but the hoop was difficult to roll.
 Another fun   4   was nine pins, which is similar to bowling. Nine pins would be placed three in a row on the lawn and the object was to   5     all nine pins with a ball. The slope (斜坡) of the lawn made the game tricky.
